Bolivia's Tupac Katari satellite raises nearly USD 60 mln since launch

Bolivia's Tupac Katari satellite has raised nearly USD 60 million in revenues since launching in December 2013, reports website Bolivia.com, citing Bolivian space agency (ABE) director Ivan Zambrana. However, Zambrana was keen to point out that the satellite wasn't launched to make money or compete with foreign satellites but to improve the country's telecommunications. The USD 302 million satellite has helped operators connect to around 2 million residents in rural areas with the ABE director previously predicting that the satellite's 2017 revenues would surmount the USD 25 million collected
