Brazil adds nine digital cities in state of Bahia

Brazil's Ministry of Communications has added nine cities in the state of Bahia to its Digital City program. The cities are Vitoria da Conquista, Guanambi, Itaberaba, Itabuna, Juazeiro, Lauro de Freitas, Nilo Pecanha, Pirai do Norte and Urucuca. These municipalities now have a fibre-optic network to connect municipal bodies and free internet access in public spaces.The cities also have applications to modernize the local government and access to public services. By the end of 2015, Brazil aims to have all areas within 30 km municipal centres covered by voice and data services, equal to 91
