Brazil and Peru dispute Amazon's claim to .amazon domain

The governments of Brazil and Peru have decided to enter into a dispute against online retailer Amazon for the internet domain '.amazon'. The company had asked Icann to release the domain for marketing purposes, but was challenged by both countries, which would like to have it for the dissemination of issues related to the river of the same name. The two countries together have 73 percent of the land area of the Amazon rainforest. Bolivia, Ecuador and Argentina have also declared their support for their South American neighbours.
