Brazil fixed telephony lines fall 5% in 12 months

Brazil had 38.7 million fixed lines in service in October, according to figures from regulator Anatel. The figure represents a decline of 229,700 lines (-0.59%) from the previous month and of 1.9 million lines (-4.89%) year-on-year. Fixed-line concessionaires accounted for 22.1 million lines (-7.14% y/y) and authourised operators for 16.6 million (-1.74%).
