Brazil imposes DTV Play interactive software for smart TVs

The Brazilian government has published an inter-ministerial decree that requires smart TV sets produced in Brazil to include the DTV Play interactive software for the Brazilian digital TV standard. Next year, 30 percent of the devices must have DTV Play, a figure that will grow to 90 percent in 2023. Applications compatible with DTV Play will allow a new form of interaction of viewers with the content made available by broadcasters, both over-the-air and on broadband.
