Brazil loses up to USD 8 billion to cybercrime in 2013

Brazil lost between USD 7 billion (BRL 15 billion) and USD 8 billion (BRL 18 billion) in 2013 to hacker attacks, password theft, card cloning, virtual piracy, industrial espionage, government spying and other digital crimes, Folha de Sao Paulo reported, citing security firm McAfee. It said international cyber 'mafias' sell the stolen data in the 'Deepweb', as the dark side of the internet is known. Losses to cybercrime in Brazil amount to 0.32 percent of the country's GDP.
