The implementation of 5G in Brazil is unlikely to take place before the end of 2021, according to Brazil's Minister of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications, Marcos Pontes. In an interview for Folha de Sao Paulo and UOL, Pontes said the 5G spectrum auction would take place later than expected, in 2021. He said the issue of mitigation of interference with satellite dishes on the 3.5 GHz frequency band has to be resolved, adding that a pilot should be launched in late 2021 and early 2022. Pontes added that there will be four basic frequencies offered in the auction.
