Brazil to assess interest in 1.9 GHz, 2.5 GHz and 39.5 GHz bands

Friday 7 August 2020 | 11:19 CET | News
Brazil's National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) has proposed a public consultation to assess interest in the use of the 1.9 GHz, 2.5 GHz and 39.5 GHz bands for broadband service. The 39.5 GHz band has been increasingly used in several countries for the provision of high capacity wireless broadband, while the 1.9 GHz and 2.5 GHz bands were awarded for 3G and 4G technologies in previous Anatel auctions, with some lots remaining. The regulator said it wants to hold a consultation in order to identify the best way to raise interest for a new auction of the frequencies.
