Brazil to raise at least BRL 3.8 bln in 4G auction

Brazilian telecom agency Anatel said that the reserve prices in the auction of 2.5GHz and 450MHz frequencies will total at least BRL 3.8 billion. The 2.5GHz band will be used for LTE services, while winners of the 450MHz frequencies will be required to roll out services in rural areas. Brazil targets all municipalities with at least 10,000 inhabitants to have LTE service by the end of 2016. The winners of the 450MHz band will be those that offer the lowest price to deliver broadband services to end-users.
