Brazilian e-commerce earns BRL 1 billion on Mother's Day

Brazilians spent BRL 1.055 billion online for Mothers Day gifts, in the period 26 April to 11 May. The volume was second only to Christmas in terms of sales, according to research by local consultancy e-Bit. The result is up 15 percent on sales recorded last year, which reached BRL 918 million. Almost 3 million orders were made via the internet during the period, and the average bill was BRL 355. The category Fashion & Accessories was the top seller, followed by Household, Cosmetics, Perfumes, Personal Care and Health, Phones/Mobile Phones and Computers respectively.
