Breko calls for separation of Deutsche Telekom from network

German broadband operator's association Breko has called for a structural separation of Deutsche Telekom and the national fixed-line network. Breko president Stephan Albers said that Germany needed a proper and independent fixed-line network company which provides the necessary concessions for Deutsche Telekom and its rivals on a non-discriminatory basis. Breko believes that this is the only option as 17 years of market liberalisation have failed to provide a level playing field between alternative operators looking for access to the national network and Deutsche Telekom as a network-owning
