Breko warns politicians for DeTe VDSL2 plans

Thursday 12 March 2015 | 10:53 CET | News
German broadband operator's association Breko warns German politicians that Deutsche Telekom's plans to deploy VDSL2 Vectoring will not have any effect on broadband coverage in rural areas. Another problem with the plans is that vectoring has no unbundling possibilities thus creating a de facto monopoly situation for 5.9 million German households. Breko claims that only 17 percent of the 41,500 street cabinets selected by Telekom to upgrade to VDSL2 are actually located in rural areas and 33 percent is located in a rural/urban area while 50 percent is located in cities and urbanized regions.
