Breko welcomes additional national broadband funds

German broadband operator's association Breko has welcomed additional federal government funds to support the national broadband roll-out. The government will provide around EUR 2.1 billion over the next three years, including almost EUR 660 million generated from the auction of frequencies. The funds will be used to support broadband deployment in areas not already covered by next-generation access (NGA) network roll-outs. However, Breko is critical of the emphasis being put on the target to provide all households with 50 Mbps connections by 2018. It is concerned that such a short timeframe
