BSkyB European push will net up to 20 mln subscribers

British Sky Broadcasting's acquisition of Sky Deutschland and Sky Italia will bring it up to 20 million subscribers, with around 30 percent share of the European pay-TV market, according to a new 'Perspective' report from Futuresource Consulting. The report says that although the deal will open up opportunities for new pay-TV growth in Germany, Austria and Italy, it will not immediately open up broadband/voice network services provisioning, which as contributed to Sky's UK growth in recent years. Sky and rival Liberty Global will control 44 percent of the USD 50 billion European TV market
