BT fights cable theft with technology from Kinesense

BT is using technology from Irish company Kinesense, provider of video retrieval, search and analysis technology for police and and intelligence services, to combat an epidemic of cable thefts across the UK. BT was losing GBP 2,000 worth of cabling a day to theft until it discovered the Kinesense technology, according to Graeme Summers, BT Service Delivery Support Manager. The Kinesense software can search long CCTV videos and quickly pick out key events, saving about 90 percent of the Investigation Officer's police officer's time.
