BT signs Hampshire fibre extension programme contract

BT has signed a GBP 22.2 million contract with Hampshire County Council under Broadband Delivery UK's (BDUK) Superfast Extension Programme (SEP), reports ISPreview. The new contract will bring 24 Mbps or faster connectivity to another 34,500 homes and businesses, reaching at least 95 percent of the population by the middle of 2019. The current Hampshire Superfast Broadband project aims to reach 90 percent of premises by the end of 2015, benefiting an extra 59,500 homes and businesses not covered by the commercial market.
