BT to launch Global SIP in Ireland, Canada, Singapore

BT will launch its Global SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) services in Ireland, Canada and Singapore this year, writes BT Ireland's head of sales for specialist data and voice Colm Sunderland in a blog post. The SIP standard is a key component in BT's Multiservice Edge, which provides access to multiple services at the interface between the company's network backbone and the customer. SIP enables customers to significantly reduce maintenance overheads, centralise control over telephony and cut call costs by keeping internal calls "on-net".
