BT to test broadband-only service

BT plans to test a broadband-only service later this year, freeing customers from the obligation to subscribe to a landline. The service will be trialled this autumn by its wholesale arm Openreach, making it also available to alternative providers on the network, the Financial Times reports. A BT spokesman said the trial reflects the growing number of consumers using VoIP services for communications.
