BT underlying revenues up 0.4%, EBITDA falls 2%

BT reported revenues for its fiscal first quarter to June up 32 percent year-on-year to GBP 5.775 billion thanks to its acquisition of mobile operator EE. On a pro forma basis and excluding transit revenues, sales were up 0.4 percent year-on-year. The underlying revenue growth was driven by the Consumer division, which offset flat results at Global Services and Openreach and lower sales from Business. Adjusted EBITDA increased 25 percent to GBP 1.818 billion, but was down 2 percent on a pro forma basis. BT said margins came under pressure in part due to the launch of handset sales at BT
