BTRC asks for VoIP licence fee within 30 days

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has asked all VoIP service providers to deposit a licence fee within the next 30 days. In a notice posted on its website, the BTRC also said all VoIP licence holders will pay 15 percent VAT on top of the licence fee to the commission. The BTRC has awarded 1,004 VoIP licences to local entrepreneurs. Under the current guideline, the application fee has been fixed at BDT 5,000, the licence fee at BDT 500,000 and the annual licence fee at BDT 100,000.
