BTRC asks ISPs to cut internet speed to control illegal VoIP

Bangladesh's telecom regulator has directed internet service providers to limit upload speeds to a maximum of 25 percent to control illegal termination of international calls through VoIP technology, The Financial Express reported online.The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission said in a directive on 17 May that the speed limitation would be executed to customers excluding embassies, government agencies, banks, financial institutions and members of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services.
