BTRC asks mobile phone firms to stop sub-leasing fibre

Bangladesh's telecom regulator has asked mobile phone operators not to lease optical fibre to third parties except where infrastructure company network is unavailable, the Financial Express reported online. The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) issued the order to leading mobile phone operators Grameenphone and Robi referring to 'amended guidelines for infrastructure sharing'. In response to a Grameenphone application, BTRC said in its letter that the operator would be able to sub-lease transmission capacity on those routes where Nationwide Telecommunication
