BTRC cancels traffic flow instruction for ISPs

Friday 12 April 2013 | 03:44 CET | News
The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has revoked a traffic balance instruction for ISPs. Bangladeshi ISPs were previously required to balance their traffic flows by ensuring that at least 45 percent of their originating data traffic was routed to each international internet gateway operator. However, the BTRC said that as it has issued 37 international internet gateway licences, it has become difficult for ISPs to maintain this balance. The regulator has therefore now cancelled the instruction of 2008.
