BTRC faces sit-in threat over consumer internet prices

Wednesday 29 May 2013 | 22:36 CET | News
Several ICT organisations have asked the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to reduce internet prices for end-users or face an indefinite sit-in demonstration from 12 June, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported online. They set a fifteen-day timeframe to fix the internet price at BDT 0.10 per megabyte or BDT 10.0 per gigabyte. If the demand is not met, the sit-in will start on 12 June in front of the BTRC, Julius Chowdhury, an organizer of the movement, told reporters at a press briefing in Dhaka.
