BTRC raids operator's offices on VoIP suspicions

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has raided corporate headquarters of mobile operators over their alleged involvement in illegal VoIP services. "During the last few months, incoming international calls fell remarkably so we needed to raid all the operators," BTRC director Mohammad Sajjad Hossain told the Dhaka Tribune. In 2007, Grameenphone, Banglalink, Robi, and Citycell were fined over BDT 8.3 billion over involvement in illegal VoIP services. After the latest inspections, the BTRC has asked all six mobile operators to bar over 53,000 lines which the regulator
