BTRC submits amendment to let fixed ISPs get WiMAX licences

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has recently sent a draft amendment to the Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) services guideline to the telecommunication ministry, enabling fixed internet service providers to obtain mobile wireless internet service (WiMAX) licences, New Age reported online. Under the existing BWA guideline, ISP licence holders operating within the 2.3 GHz, 2.5 GHz, 3.5 GHz, 5.2 GHz and 5.4 GHz bands are not allowed to provide mobile broadband wireless access services.
