BTRC to open clearing house to stop illegal VoIP

The Bangladeshi government plans to establish an international clearing house (ICH) to stop illegal VoIP calls from and to Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has taken this initiative after recommendations from different organisations within the industry, reported The Daily Manab Kantha, a local Bangla daily. Md Zakir Hossain, director general of the BTRC, said that some IGW (international gateway) operators are bringing international incoming call below 3 cents, which goes against their licence conditions.
