Cable industry opposes German pubcaster push for antitrust exemption

German cable and telecom industry groups have warned against a proposal from the public broadcasters ARD and ZDF to make them exempt from some competition regulation. In a letter to state media legislators, the industry groups Anga, Eco, Bitkom and VPRT said such a move would have negative consequences both for private broadcasters and TV distributors.
