Cable & Wireless Worldwide EBITDA up 32% on flat revenue
Cable & Wireless Worldwide has reported revenue of GBP 2.27 billion for FY ending 31 March, constant year-on-year, as EBITDA rose 32 percent from GBP 326 million to GBP 431 million, and profit after tax jumped 380 percent from GBP 44 million to GBP 211 million. Adjusted operating cash flow was up by GBP 91 million year-on-year to GBP 81 million. IP, data, hosting and applications revenue was up 18 percent. The year to 31 March includes a full year of results of Thus Group compared with six months in the previous year, having been acquired on 01 October 2008. UK enterprise revenue was up to GBP 837 million, from GBOP 827 million a year earlier, with C&W Worldwide estimating its share of this market at around 19 percent. UK public sector revenue was up 6 percent or GBP 17 million year-on-year to GBP 285 million, from GBP 268 million. UK carrier revenue was down 5 percent to GBP 349 million, from GBP 369 million, as the market was hit hard by the recession which drove down wholesale call volumes by around 5 percent. Meanwhile, total global revenue was down 7 percent to GBP 552 million in FY 2009/2010, from GBP 592 million a year earlier, reflecting the general fall in international voice traffic and a managed reduction of low margin international voice contracts, partially offset by growth in data products in both the global carrier and enterprise markets. Global enterprise revenue was up 2 percent from GBP 181 million to GBP 184 million, with global carrier revenue down 10 percent from GBP 411 million to GBP 368 million.
