Cablers win 99% of Q1 high-speed internet adds in US

The seventeen biggest cable and phone companies in the US, representing some 95 percent of the market, added almost 1.1 million net high-speed broadband customers in the first quarter, according to Leichtman Research. The top cablers captured 99 percent of all net broadband adds in the period, or 1.06 million subscribers, a change of 106 percent versus year ago. The top phone companies added some 10,690 broadband customers, compared to a gain of 160,000 in the first quarter of 2015. The research showed that AT&T and Verizon added 300,000 subscribers via their respective fibre services,
