Cameroon bans Sim card street vendors

The sale of Sim cards by street vendors is now illegal under a prime ministerial decree signed on 3 September, Ecofin reports. Operators must open their own points of sale or contract partners with clearly identified stores to sell their Sims. The decree also limits consumers to own three Sim cards per operator. Regulator ART found on operator databases that some people had registered up 200 Sim cards with the same ID, according to the body's deputy director for IT systems, Thomas Marcellin Manyanye.
