Cameroon seeks connection to Main One cable

The government of Cameroon has signed an agreement with Main One Cable Company, which owns a 1.9 Tbps, 7,000 km undersea cable running along the West Coast of Africa, reports Investir Au Cameroun. The two parties will work together to enable Cameroun to have a new landing point for international telecommunications traffic. Cameroon has been connected to SAT3, which lands at Douala, since 1999. The telecoms ministry signed an agreement with MTN International in June to be able to connect to the Wacs cable at Limbe. MTN Cameroon is not licensed as a carrier, so will be just another third-party
