Camtel leases fibre capacity to MTN Cameroon

Cameroon Telecommunications (Camtel) has signed a 10-year agreement with mobile operator MTN Cameroon for the provision of dark fibre capacity on Camtels' national fibre optic backbone. In a televised interview on CRTV, Camtel general manager David Nkoto Emane explained that sharing a common transmission infrastrucure will reduce running costs and prices. Camtel has signed a similar deal with Cameroon's third mobile operator, Viettel, which is due to launch service soon.
