Canada telecom authority to check fixed internet advertised speeds

Friday 10 May 2019 | 12:11 CET | News
Canadian authority CRTC will check advertised speeds of home wireline broadband internet services through a project named 'Measuring Broadband Canada.' Participants will receive 'Whitebox' devices that they will connect directly to their modems or routers. These devices will periodically measure broadband performance, testing a number of parameters, including download and upload speeds. The measurement tests will run when users are not actively using their internet connection.
