Canadian govt wants CRTC decisions to promote more competition, cheaper prices

The government of Canada has proposed a new policy directive aimed at making internet and mobile services cheaper for Canadians. The government wants the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to take the interest of people more into consideration when making their decisions. Specifically, the order would require the CRTC to consider competition, affordability, consumer interests and innovation in its decisions, and to demonstrate to people that it has done so.
