Canadian traditional TV service providers lost record number of subscribers in 2019 - study

Friday 13 March 2020 | 10:38 CET | News
Canada's publicly traded television service providers lost a record number of TV subscribers last year, according to the latest study from Boon Dog. Together, BCE, Rogers, Shaw/Shaw Direct, Videotron, Cogeco and Telus lost an estimated 278,000 susbcribers in 2019, from 170,000 lost the year before. The declines were attributed to the continued launch of new internet streaming services and the take-up of the services in Canada, a slowdown in the growth of IPTV and continued record losses of subscribers to cable TV.
