Canal+ partners with Time Warner's Turner to launch exclusive TV channel

Thursday 14 September 2017 | 13:40 CET | News

Canal Plus has strengthened its ties with Turner, part of Time Warner, with the launch of a new exclusive channel, Warner TV, which will become part of its French offering from 9 November. The content will be entirely focused on TV series, including those produced by Turner’s sister company Warner Bros.

Warner TV will be the second channel from the Turner group to be included in Canal Plus’ offering, following the launch of the children’s channel Toonami in January. It will be available as part of Canal Plus’ ‘Essentiel Famille’, Free’s ‘TV by Canal Panorama’ and Orange’s ‘Famille by Canal’ packages.

In related news, Canal Plus has also announced the French launch of Novelas TV, an exclusive channel dedicated to soap operas already available from the broadcaster in the French overseas territories and francophone Africa. Like Warner TV, Novelas TV will be included in the 'Essentiel Famille' bundle, as well as in Free’s ‘TV by Canal Panorama’ and Orange’s ‘Famille by Canal’ packages. It will debut on 26 September alongside Polar +, a new channel showing TV series and shows from the Nordic countries.

These recent additions follow the loss of several channels for Canal Plus' subscribers earlier this year, after SFR secured exclusive content rights from Discovery and NBCUniversal International, previously held by Canal Plus.
