Canal Plus adds 605,000 subscribers in year to March

French pay TV group Canal Plus reported revenue up 4 percent to EUR 1.37 billion in the first quarter, compared to the year-earlier period. The group had 15.2 million subscribers at the end of March, up by 605,000 in a year, driven by strong performance in Africa and Vietnam, and take-up of the CanalPlay service in France. Mainland French pay TV operations were almost stable despite a difficult economic environment. International pay TV revenue rose by 13.9 percent on the first quarter of 2014. Free-to-air channel ad revenues were boosted by strong audiences at D8 and i>Tele. Studiocanal
