Canal Plus Overseas buys majority stake in Thema

Canal Plus international subsidiary Canal Plus Overseas has acquired a majority stake in TV channel distributor Thema for an undisclosed amount. France-based Thema has four international subsidiaries and offers around 100 channels (generalist, thematic, ethnic) to cable, satellite and IPTV operators in France and other markets. Thema also publishes the Nollywood TV fiction channel. Thema president Francois Thiellet will continue to direct and develop Thema's operations. Canal Plus Overseas president Jacques du Puy said the acquisition would enable his company to accelerate its development
