Canal Plus reaches agreement on movie release windows with French film industry

French broadcaster Canal Plus announced that it has signed a multi-year agreement renewing its commitment to fund the French film industry, which the pay-TV operator has been supporting for more than 30 years. The group will invest more than EUR 600 million over the next three years in French and European cinema. In exchange, it will be able to show movies to its pay-TV subscribers six months following their cinema release in France. It has also secured an exclusive rights window of a minimum nine months, which could be extended to reach up to sixteen months.
