Canal Plus signs five-year content deal with HBO

Canal Plus and HBO have signed a licensing agreement covering all new series from HBO for five years. Canal Plus will be able to air the programmes on all group channels, including premium and free channels. In France, Canal Plus and D7 or D18 viewers will be able to see show such as Game of Thrones on the free channels initially, then on pay channels in a second-run. Other awaited HBO series include Girls, The Newsroom and Banshee. Canal Plus will offer linear and VoD to all devices, including smart TVs, smartphones, tablets and game consoles. The contract's value was not disclosed.
