Canal Plus tries to overturn Competition Authority decision

French pay TV operator Canal Plus has asked the State Council to overturn the injunctions it was imposed in July by the Competition Authority concerning the 2006 merger of CanalSat and TPS. Les Echos reports tha Canal Plus CEO Bertrand Meheut said at a State Council public hearing that the obligation to offer exclusive CanalSat cinema channels to ISPs would lose CanalSat an estimated 300,000 of its 4 million subscribers, and 100,000 Canal Plus subscribers in the first year. This would amount to EUR 130 million in lost profit and EUR 170 million in lost revenue. The State Council has until 23
