Carbon Mobile unveils first phone with carbon fibre monocoque

Thursday 4 March 2021 | 08:16 CET | News
German phone maker Carbon Mobile unveiled what it calls the first phone with a carbon fibre monocoque. It weighs 125g versus 182g for an average phone and is 6.3mm thin versus 8.3 mm for the average smartphone, the company said on the product's web page. The dual SIM phone's carbon fibre consists of multi 1K and 3K ultra-thin filaments, which makes it lighter than aluminum. The phone contains less than 5 percent plastic and its lightweight design reduces CO2 emissions in delivery. It costs EUR 799 and will be available from mid-March.
