Carlyle considering Telecable stake sale - report

US-based investment company Carlyle has hired Goldman Sachs to advise it on the possible sale of its controlling stake in Spanish broadband operator Telecable, according to two unnamed sources cited by Reuters. Carlyle currently owns 85 percent of Telecable, an operator present in the Asturias region of northern Spain. The report suggests that Telecable and the other two regional operators present in northern Spain – Galicia's R and the Basque Country's Euskaltel – need to consolidate to survive in a market that over the past year has seen Vodafone acquire cable provider Ono and Orange take
