Castilla-La Mancha allocates EUR 2.5 mln to rural fibre rollout

Thursday 4 October 2018 | 09:46 CET | News
The regional government of Castilla-La Mancha in central Spain has agreed to hand out EUR 2.5 million in grants to boost the deployment of high-speed broadband networks in digital divide areas, reports Europa Press, citing the region's ICT director Alipio Garcia. The aim is to bring superfast internet to localities of less than 70 inhabitants which have been overlooked by operators in view of the lack of commercial interest, said the official. The funds will mainly be allocated for the rollout of fibre-optic or Wimax networks, with operators given 6 months to execute the projects.
