CDP to buy stake of up to 5% in Telecom Italia - report

Thursday 5 April 2018 | 08:23 CET | News
Italian state lender CDP is preparing to acquire a stake of up to 5 percent in Telecom Italia (TIM), according to two unnamed sources cited by Reuters. The reasoning behind the decision is to safeguard the country's interests in TIM, whose assets are regarded as strategic and whose leading shareholder is France's Vivendi, with a stake of just under 24 percent. CDP is set to confirm its decision at a board meeting on 05 April, said the report, adding that buying a stake would allow the state lender to take part in the TIM's 24 April shareholder meeting.
