Cell C HSPA+ network goes live in Joburg, Pretoria

South African operator Cell C said its HSPA+ 900/2100 network has gone live in Johannesburg and Pretoria. The launch in the economic hub of the African continent brings customers high-speed data services for as little as ZAR 0.03 per MB at average download speeds of 4-7 Mbps and average upload speeds of 2-3 Mbps. Cell C's new network will initially cover 62 percent of the population in the greater Johannesburg and Pretoria region, with 89 percent population coverage of the area planned by the end of January 2011.
