Cell C to zero-rate WhatsApp calls for a week

Monday 25 January 2016 | 09:48 CET | News
South African operator Cell C said it will provide free WhatsApp calling from 24 January until the end of the month for contract customers and prepaid users on its MegaBonus, Techcentral reported. Customers who want to use WhatsApp calling must have their handsets on the correct settings to ensure they are not charged for data, Cell C said. CEO Jose Dos Santos said the decision was in part a protest at calls by its competitors to regulate OTT services.
