Cell C withdraws lawsuit over termination rates

Tuesday 8 March 2016 | 13:49 CET | News
The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has noted that mobile operator Cell C has withdrawn its application to review the Call Termination Regulations of 2014. In a statement, the regulator said Cell C's decision to withdraw its application vindicates Icasa's view that the regulations were both lawful and procedurally fair. In 2014, Icasa sharply reduced the call termination rates, prompting an appeal from Cell C. The mobile operator filed a court request for a range of documents used by Icasa in the lead up to its decision.
