Cellular baseband processor market hits USD 5.8 bln in Q1

The global cellular baseband processor market was worth USD 5.8 billion in the first quarter, 27 percent more than in the first quarter of 2014, according to Strategy Analytics. Qualcomm maintained its market leadership with a 61 percent revenue share, followed by MediaTek with 18 percent and Spreadtrum with 7 percent. Samsung LSI and Marvell placed fourth and fifth. The research found that in LTE baseband shipments, MediaTek has firmly established itself a solid number two behind Qualcomm.
